Since its first years of production, Riserva Ducale has become synonymous with fine Chianti, and it has played a leading role in the development of the privileged position which Tuscan quality wines hold throughout the world today. In many markets this Riserva has in fact transcended its category and become known simply as "Riserva Ducale." The first Riserva Ducale was made in 1926. Food pairing: Pasta dishes with meat sauces, grilled or roasted meat. Serving temperature: 18 - 20°C. Taste: Well-balanced on the palate, the taste reveals velvety tannins and good acidity, a fruity core spiced with cacao and clove, and a lingering finish of rosemary. Appearance: Ruby red in color, with garnet hues. Aroma: Particularly fragrant, sweet cherry and red berry fruit notes. Delicately spicy hints of tobacco and white pepper lead into aromas of roses and a touch of flint. Grape variety: Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon.
