A special wine, made to celebrate this important anniversary, and already 'legendary' in several respects, will be presented as part of the celebrations. It is, of course, an Amarone, the wine that is responsible for Masi’s classification as one of the world's great producers and that at the same time Masi’s work has made iconic as one of the world's benchmark wines. Called 'Vajo dei Masi', its grapes come from the eponymous founding vineyard, high up in the hills in the Valpolicella Classica region, on the ridge between Marano and Negrar. The vintage is 1997, one of the best ever in Valpolicella in the last century. It is therefore a wine with 25 years of maturation: 5 years in wooden barrels (1998-2002) and then storage in stainless steel vats under nitrogen before bottling (May 2022). This is why Vajo dei Masi retains an unusual and unexpected freshness, even after 25 years of ageing, as well as great homogeneity between the different bottles, having not yet had any oxidative ageing effects. A limited edition of 2,500 numbered bottles is available in Magnum format only. The label, signed by Masi President Sandro Boscaini, features the motto "Nectar Angelorum hominibus" and the angel that is such a characteristic element of Masi's traditional original styling, picked out in Renaissance red-chalk style. The figure of the angel can also be seen in the design branded on the solid oak presentation box. Accompanying the wine is an oenologist's notebook, with comments from technicians involved in each of the various processing stages. Serving temperature: 18-20° C. Taste: Soft and pervasive at the same time on the palate with hints of cooked cherries and jam. Good level of acidity and tannins on the finish helps to keep the flavours clean and attractive. Appearance: Deep opaque ruby red with thin brown edges. Aroma: Characteristic cherries in spirit aromas on the nose with a distinct hint of carruba.
