In the property register of Tiefenthal Monastery, which was subordinate to Eberbach Monastery, property ownership in Rauenthaler Berg is documented for the first time in the early 13th century. Documents from 1900 state that Baiken was purchased by the Prussian government for 1.12 million gold marks. The name Baiken comes from the term "Biegen" (bend) because the site is in a bend.
