Donnafugata was created in Sicily in 1983 by Giacomo Rallo together with his wife Gabriella. Today the fifth generation - José and Antonio - lead a team of people strongly motivated to represent the excellence of Made in Italy. Donnafugata has 3 historic production premises in Sicily. With the 2016 harvest, Donnafugata realizes a dream cultivated for a long time: produce, in eastern Sicily, wines under the prestigious Etna, Cerasuolo and Frappato di Vittoria denominations. Food pairing: Perfect with Mediterranean antipasti and first courses based on eggplant or mushrooms, meat, and roast stew. Pairing options are numerous: from North American cuisine (chicken wings, hamburgers) to moderate spicy Asian dishes (beef stir-fried, dumplings) to fusion cuisine like Tex-Mex based on meat and beans. Serving temperature: 16-18° C.
Taste: Fresh and with a good structure, full of silky tannins, and with a balanced and persistent finish.
Appearance: Pale ruby red.
Aroma: Notes of red fruits (raspberries and cherries) along with hints of fresh balsamic mint and delicate spicy nuances of star anise.
Grape variety: Nerello Mascalese
